Viscose rugs can be made in handtufted and handknotted, even in such other floor coverings like dhurries.

Viscose yarn have high shinning, soft feel and moderate in price which is therefore being used in handmade rugs.

Normally the ground or say the base is made in wool with the designs in viscose yarn, this gives very rich look in every respect.

There are also many cases where the whole rugs are made of viscose, this means that no wool is being used. These viscose rugs if made in handtufted are thick, but if made in handknotted are thin pile, as this looks great in case of high knots...

Some think that viscose rug can replace silk rugs...this is a myth. The first question is what are these ikat rugs or dhurries?

The true sense is where the warp and weft id dyed (in tie-die), which gives the effect of this after weaving. After wrapping, the warp threads are dyed, and when finished and unwrapped, the areas under the ties have stayed the original colour.

Designs generally are worked out on graph paper. Great care must be taken in putting the warp on the loom, keeping all the threads in position is necessary for the design to work. The natural movement during weaving gives ikat designs a feathered edge which characterize this technique .

Wool being the prime yarn is always to be selected as per the usage of carpets  and also the area where it has to be placed.
